Established as The Skamokawa Eagle in 1891
Once again, dogs of all breeds, and unknown breeding will gather at Misty River Plantation, 117 Cross Dike Road on Puget Island, this Saturday and Sunday, Sept 29-30, for lure coursing. The events are a timed straight 100 yard dash in the mornings and longer random coursing runs in the afternoon. There will be a short course for dogs under 12" tall at the shoulder, and a longer one for the tall dogs. The straight dash is scheduled to start at 9 a.m., both days and the coursing at 1 p.m.
This event is sanctioned by the American Kennel Club and is sponsored by the Willamette Valley Basenji Club. The Saturday morning 100 yard straight dash must be pre-entered; the other events may be entered same day. Participating dogs will need an AKC or Canine Partner registration number. Canine Partner and event registration forms can be found at the Willamette Valley Basenji Club website under "events."
The public is invited, free of charge, and leashed dogs are welcome spectators. Parking is out front in the shade on the grass. On the coursing field in back, there is parking for participants, limited handicapped parking, and restroom facilities. For additional information, contact Judy Brawn at 360 562-1925.
