The Wahkiakum Mules volleyball team got off to a slow start this season but managed to turn things around and add to their win column this week.
League play started for the Lady Mules last Thursday at home with a three set win against Onalaska, 25-13, 25-23, and 25-16.
"We came out focused and took care of the ball tonight," Coach Kayli Hurley said.
Charlie Ashe had 11 assists, six kills, and nine digs. Mckensi Fluckiger was 100 percent from the service line and Jordyn-Keithley-Watson "had a solid game at the net."
On Tuesday, the team traveled to White Pass and beat MWP in four sets, 25-15, 21-25, 25-18, and 25-17.
Macie Elliott led the team with 10 kills. Ellie Leitz and Jansi Merz added five kills apiece. Ashe had 10 digs and 14 assists. Fluckiger had 14 digs and Solana Stanley had nine.
"They were flying all over the floor," Hurley said of the latter two. "The energy tonight was palpable and it rolled over into our play.
The Lady Mules are 2-0 in league, 3-3 overall. They host Toutle Lake on Thursday.
