Former training officer supports Howie

To The Eagle:

This is in regards to the upcoming elections for Sheriff. I am a former resident of Cathlamet and a long time friend of Sheriff Howie. In fact I was his training officer some 30 years ago. I could go on and on about him and his work ethics and his passion and undying commitment for serving the residents of Wahkiakum County but you know that already.

When I was his training officer I noted right off his drive to serve the community, his honesty, fairness and doing the right thing all the time. And above all I trusted him with my life and there is no greater trust than that. You know already first hand that Sheriff Howie continues to do the right thing and demands that his staff is committed to that same conviction every day. You already know he's committed to leading his department forward into the future for you, the community which you all deserve and should expect out of a strong progressive professional leader.

So I hope you do the right thing too, stay with who you know and trust, don't take a chance of sending your law enforcement agency back into the "good ‘ole’ boys" days where your safety from your own sheriff's department could be your greatest concern. Retain Sheriff Howie because he is a proven leader that you know and can trust.

Thank you,

David McKenzie
