Cemetery tour set for Sept. 22

Bunker Hill Cemetery Association, Stella Historical Society and the Cowlitz County Historical Museum invite the public to experience history as it comes to life in a unique and fascinating way.

Bunker Hill Cemetery graves date back to the 1870s. The people were loggers, farmers, teachers and early settlers of the Stella and surrounding area. Enactors will portray some of those people while standing at their graves and share their stories. Participants will be able to learn and relive the history of the area and lives of the people during those past days.

Bunker Hill Cemetery will host tours on Saturday, September 22. The tours will start every 30 minutes between 3:00 p.m. and 5:30 p.m. The tour is recommended for those aged 10 and up. A suggested donation is $5 a person. The terrain is uneven, so comfortable, safe shoes are recommended. Some seating will be available.

Bunker Hill Cemetery is located at 350 Bunker Hill Road. Bunker Hill Road is off of SR4 about midway between Cathlamet and Longview. For additional information call 360-423-3860 or 360-423-8663.
