The Skamokawa Grange #425 will be open all three days of the Wahkiakum County Fair August 16 - 18 to host readings, martial arts, a spelling bee and roller derby.
The Grange remains a vital part of the community through its community activities to include Open Mic and Women's Activities Group. Grange activities during the fair are planned to compliment and attract more people to the fair.
Planned activities include:
Reading By Robert Pyle - Today (Thursday) at 12 noon, renowned writer Robert Michael Pyle will read from his new novel “Magdalen Mountain." Copies of his book will be available to purchase.
Martial Arts Demonstration - On Friday, at 7 p.m., John Velke will do a martial arts exhibition/demonstration. He plans to have classes starting soon.
Spelling Bee - On Saturday at 1 p.m. the Gray’s River Grange Spelling Bee will start for children entering grades 3-8 with cash prizes awarded.
Roller Derby Demonstration - Also Saturday, 4:30 p.m., members of the Pacific County Roller Derby Club will do an exhibition/demonstration.
Fair goers may cool off inside the Grange with a premium root beer float for sale at $4 each with seating available all three days. The Grange will provide a shady spot outside for dogs, with water bowls available.
