The Town of Cathlamet held a special meeting last Wednesday to discuss whether or not to allow parking on a lot they recently purchased despite vehement public objection.
"The reason I spoke to council members about having a special meeting is because the day after we purchased the lot, someone had removed the chain that the former owner had put up,” Town Clerk/Treasurer Kerrie McNally said. “It was not town personnel that removed that chain, and people had begun parking at the lot.”
McNally also noted that there had been an unsanctioned announcement on Facebook that the lot was open for parking.
After discussion, the council members agreed to allow parking until they decide on a termination date. No commercial vehicles, RVs or boats will be allowed.
