The Naselle-Grays River Valley School District Board of Directors met for its monthly meeting on July 17 in the Middle School Commons.
In personnel matters, the board approved the tentative hire of Sandra Smith, pending background check and the resignation of Russell Hickman, teacher.
Policies 2022 and 2023 regarding digital citizenship and the use of electronic resources were approved.
Resolution 2018-7-17 was approved for adopting the budget for the 2018-19 school year. The purchase of 90 Chromebooks was approved using grant funds and general education dollars. The board also approved the surplus of several unneeded items.
Superintendent Nelson provided an overview of the current financial status of the district as well as student enrollment counts for the year just ended.
Rose Nisbet, Title I Director, gave an overview of the program that supports students in need of additional academic services. She discussed several pending changes in the legislation as to tracking student outcomes and performance.
Prior to the regular meeting, a hearing for the budget was held at 5 p.m. Along with the budget hearing, the board conducted a self-assessment of its goals and reviewed possible goals for the 2018-19 school year.
The next regular board meeting will be on August 21 at the Grays River Fire Hall beginning at 6:30 p.m.
