Kids Day program at the Stella Museum

The Stella Historical Society invites the community to opening day of its 2018 museum season this Saturday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Opening day will feature a special Kids Day with a variety of pioneer games.

Some of the games will be hop scotch, checkers, wooden button spinners, cat’s cradle, jacks, marbles, pin the tail on the donkey, a scavenger hunt and more. There also will be a special display of old axes. And there is the old school bell that anyone can ring.

Pennies will be awarded to kids for participation in the games, and they will be able to use their winnings to buy their treats of ice cream cups, pop, and water at pioneer prices.

While the Kids Day on July 7 will be the opening of the museum season, the museum will be open every Saturday and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. until August 26 with experienced docents on hand to share our area’s history.

Admission is free, but donations are greatly appreciated to help maintain the historic properties.

The museum is located about 10 miles west of Longview at 8530 Ocean Beach Highway. For more information, call 360-423-3860.
