Established as The Skamokawa Eagle in 1891
John Mitchell, who has been with KLOG since 1978 will retire from The KLOG Morning Show on Friday, June 1, a position he has held with co-host Kirc Roland and producer Ray Byers for over 25 years.
“Having a 40-year career in radio is a feat in itself, but having a 40-year career at the same radio station is unheard of,” said KLOG General Manager John Paul. Paul added, “We’ve been extremely lucky to have the talents of John for so many years. We wish him well in his well-deserved retirement and look forward to the next phase of The KLOG Morning Show.”
Kirc Roland and Ray Byers will continue the KLOG Morning Show, heard Monday-Friday from 6-9 a.m., on Hometeam 100.7, KLOG and online at http://www.klog.com. David Martin, who was most recently the morning host in Astoria will join the show on Monday, June 4, replacing Mitchell. Martin has done news at KXL/Portland, mornings at KLYK in Longview as well as worked at other stations in Portland, Bend, Newport, Alaska and Indiana.
Each day the KLOG Facebook page will feature pictures of John Mitchell over his 40 year career at KLOG.
KLOG was just added to FM last month and is now broadcasting at 100.7 FM as well as 1490 AM.
KLOG and its sister stations KUKN and 101-5 The Wave have been the only locally owned radio stations for more than 50 years serving Southwest Washington.
