District champs!
The Wahkiakum Mules baseball team beat the Adna Pirates 2-0 in the district championship game last Saturday and added that to their list of accomplishments this season, which includes a league title and a 16-0 league record, 19-1 overall.
The Mules scored in the first inning and again in the sixth. Beau Carlson was responsible for one RBI.
James Anderson pitched five innings, and faced 18 batters. He struck out five, walked one, and allowed two hits and no runs. Zach Brown finished the last two innings, facing seven batters, striking out three and walking one.
"I'm really proud of the boys," Coach Marc Niemeyer said. "They work so hard and they're so unselfish, just great teammates to one another. We have an amazing support group of parents, friends, and family."
This Saturday, the Mules travel to Adna High School to face 12-9 Tonasket at 1 p.m. in a loser out regional game. The winner will advance to a second loser out game that day.
In the other side of the bracket 9-6 Crosspoint faces 17-7 Kalama. The winner will face the winner of the Wahkiakum-Tonasket game, and the winner of that game advances to the state semifinals May 25 at Wheeler Field, Centralia.
