WHS Track and Field

The Wahkiakum Mules track and field team joined three other schools in competition at the Ilwaco Crossover meet last Thursday. The Mules took fourth place in boys' competition with five points, and the girls finished in fourth place as well, with 35 points.

Jansi Merz got a first place finish in the discus with a throw of 87-01. Nalani Schultz took fifth place in the event with a distance of 72-05, and Shelby McEneny placed sixth with 67-08.

Merz also took second place in the shot put with a distance of 27-01.5. Schultz took third place with 26-06, and McEneny placed sixth with 22-07.

Charlie Ashe won the high jump, clearing 4-06.

Teylor Sauer took second place in the 100 meter hurdles with a time of 19.56.

Mckensi Fluckiger placed third in the long jump with a distance of 14-02. Sauer finished sixth with a distance of 13-01.5.

Ellie Leitz took sixth place in the triple jump, clearing 30-02.

The 4x100 relay team of Sauer, Trinity Klecker, Ashe, and Fluckiger took third place with a time of 56.77. The same group took second place in the 4x200 relay with a time of 2:02.14.

For the boys, Eli Moon placed fifth in the discus with a distance of 87-03.

Braxton Johns took sixth in the 800 with a time of 2:39.58.

The relay team of Tucker Thomas, Thiago Peitl Monterio, Simon Stepanek, and Daniel Dennison placed second with a time of 55.48.

On Tuesday, the Mules met three other teams in Toutle Lake for Central 2B competition. The Mules placed fourth in boys' competition with 12 points and the girls took second place with 74 points.

Merz led the Lady Mules with wins in the shot put and discus. She pushed the shot a distance of 25-10, and cleared 81-10 in the discus.

Macie Elliot won the 400 meters with a time of 1:02.21.

Sauer, Ashe, Fluckiger and Elliott ran an uncontested 2:01.96 in the 4x200 relay for the win. The 4x400 relay team of Sauer, Ashe, Leitz, and Elliott won with a time of 4:39.23.

Fluckiger won the long jump with a leap of 15-08, a personal record. She also took third in the triple jump with a distance of 30-08.

Leitz placed second in the 800 meters with a time of 2:42.67. She also took fourth place in the triple jump with a leap of 30-03.

Trinity Klecker took second in the 100 meter hurdles with a time of 18.43, and third in the 300 meter hurdles with a time of 1:09.01.

Sauer placed fourth in the 100 meter hurdles with a time of 19.50. She also took third place in the long jump, clearing 14-01, a personal record.

Ashe cleared 4-08 in the high jump for second place.

McEneny placed second in the javelin with a throw of 96-09, a personal record. She also took third in the shot put with a distance of 23-08, and fourth in the discus with a distance of 61-07.

Schultz placed second in the shot put with a distance of 24-00.

For the boys, Johns took second place in the 800 meters with a time of 2:25.78, a personal record.

Thomas placed fourth in the 800 meters with a time of 2:40.71 and fourth in the triple jump, clearing 29-07.

Stepanek took sixth place in the 400 meters with a time of 1:04.64.

The 4x100 relay team of Thomas, Stepanek, Monterio, and Dennison took second place with a time of 54.96.

The postseason begins with subdistricts in Kalama on May 11.
