District play begins on Saturday at home

Last Friday, the Wahkiakum Mules baseball team ended the regular season with two wins against Toutle Lake for a first place finish in the Central 2B League. The Mules went undefeated in league play, 16-0, and 16-1 overall.
The Mules beat Toutle Lake 6-1 in the first game of the double header on Friday.
James Anderson pitched five innings and faced 20 batters. He struck out nine and walked one, allowing three hits and one run. Zach Brown pitched the final two innings. He struck out four of six batters and allowed no hits and no runs.
On offense, Z. Brown hit a double and had one RBI.
The Mules won the nightcap 8-4.
Z. Brown started on the mound and faced 13 batters in three innings. He struck out seven, allowed three hits and one run. Terris Record stepped in and pitched one and 1/3 innings. He faced 10 batters, walked five, allowed one hit and two runs. Ashden Niemeyer pitched the final two and 2/3 innings. He struck out five of 12 batters and walked two, allowing two hits and one run.
Luke Brown went 4-4 at bat, hit two doubles, and drove in one run. Z. Brown hit a double and had two RBIs. Anderson had a double and drove in one run.
"We hit the ball hard and made some really nice plays defensively," Coach Marc Niemeyer said. "Pitchers threw strikes and kept runners at bay."
The Mules begin the post season at home on Saturday at 3 p.m. They'll face the winner of the Central 5/Pacific 4 game, which will take place on the same field starting at 12 noon.
