New Aalberg book looks at company towns

Author Jim Aalberg has followed his history of the Westport, Ore., mill town with a look at company towns in Clatsop County, Bradwood, Wauna, and Westport.

Aalberg tells how the people connected to these towns remember an almost idyllic existence, one filled with hard work to be sure, but a sense of community.

Aalberg will discuss the book, the Historical Company Towns of Clatsop County, at the Clatsop County Historical Society's TNT lecture series--a free event at Fort George Brewery on April 19. Doors open at 6 p.m. with lectures beginning at 7 p.m. Seasonal beers are on tap, food and other beverages are available for purchase. Minors are welcome with an accompanying adult.

As with his earlier Westport book, Aalberg has again given ownership and all rights to the book to the Clatsop County Historical Society, plus all proceeds from book sales.
