Wahkiakum Mules Golf

The Wahkiakum HS Golf Team raised their inter-conference season record to 6-0 on Tuesday, shooting 180 to Three Rivers Christian’s 252.

Medalist sophomore Elijah Doiron shot a personal best school match score of 43. Three other Mules also shot in the 40s: Freshman Logan LaBerge tied sophomore Tyler St. Onge at 45 while senior Bryce Good fired a 47.

Elijah medaled out of the fifth player position which doesn’t surprise me. We have seven players on our team that have scored in the 40s, and most of them have scored in the low 40s in practice.

The formality of school match play adds some pressure that takes some adjustment. It’s nice to see another sophomore break through and medal.

The Mule’s four-ball total of 174 bested Adna’s 218 and Three Rivers Christian’s 261 while capturing the top four spots in the three-team, 15-player golf match at Three Rivers GC on March 28.

Tyler St. Onge was medalist at 40; Zach Johnston shot 41, Bryce Good 46 and Logan LaBerge 47 and they rounded out the top four spots. Elijah Doiron, 54, finished seventh, and Kaden Andersen 55 tied for eighth.

We still have some work to do at the back of the line-up, and the kids are planning to get some extra rounds in over the spring break next week; hopefully that will help.

The team's next match is today (Thursday) at the Astoria HS Invitational for both varsity and junior varsity at Astoria Country Club.
