While their record may be less than they desire, a young and inexperienced Wahkiakum Mule softball team have continued to make the most of each opportunity this season to build the skills necessary to find success in the future.
And they seem to be having fun.
They lost two more games in a doubleheader against the Winlock Cardinals on Monday, 15-0 and 11-1.
"It's a struggle moving forward," Coach Stephanie Green said, "but the improvements the kids are making are huge."
Three girls, Aubrey Montgomery, Jordyn Watson, and Marissa Baker got a little more experience on the mound and the Lady Mules picked up some new lessons at bat when they faced a talented Winlock pitcher who knew how to throw more than a fastball.
On Saturday, the team travels to Mossyrock for a doubleheader.
