Anderson hits 2 grand slams in Mule sweep

James Anderson hit two grand slams on Monday to lead the Wahkiakum Mules baseball team in their home doubleheader against Winlock. The Mules won the first game 16-0 and the second 30-3.

In game one against the Cardinals, Anderson, the starting pitcher, faced six batters in two innings. He struck out four. Ashden Niemeyer took over in the third inning, pitching two innings and facing seven batters. He struck out four and allowed one hit. Brody Carlson pitched the final inning. He faced four batters and struck out three. He allowed one hit.

Anderson hit the first of his two grand slams for the day and drove in six runs. Tristan Collupy had a double.

"We hit the ball extremely well today and took advantage of many walks," Coach Marc Niemeyer said.

Zach Brown took the mound for game two. He faced six batters in two innings and struck out all six. Luke Brown pitched the last three innings. He struck out two and walked three, allowing three hits and three runs.

Anderson hit another grand slam and had six RBIs. Z. Brown hit a triple and drove in three runs. L. Brown hit a double and had two RBIs.

On Saturday, the team travels to Oregon State University to play Mossyrock.

The Mules lead the Central 2B League with a record of 8-0, 8-1 overall.
