Verena "Frana" Nepsund, 94, longtime Cathlamet resident, died March 15, 2018 at Hospice Care Center in Longview.
Frana was born to Hans and Hilda Fluckiger on January 23, 1924 in Hustisford, WI. In 1937, at age 13, her family moved to Puget Island. She graduated from Wahkiakum High School in 1942. On February 4, 1945 she married Norman Nepsund and he preceded her in 1961.
She delivered papers for the Daily News for over 40 years, retiring in 2006. During that time she enjoyed the help of her grandson, Sean. She was a 30 year member of the Puget Island Garden Club and 4-H leader. She enjoyed her extensive salt and pepper shaker collection and playing Bunco. Frana was a lifelong member of Our Saviour's Lutheran Church and enjoyed singing for special occasions.
Frana is survived by her daughter and son-in-law Julieanne and Ron Pedersen; a son and daughter-in-law Larry and Ina Nepsund; a brother Hans Fluckiger; six grandchildren, several great grandchildren, one great great grandchild and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by a son Wayne Nepsund in 2005, a sister Hilda Dickey in 1998, a sister-in-law Georgia Fluckiger in 2017, two grandsons in 1982 and seven sisters-in-law and two brothers-in-law.
On Saturday, April 7, a celebration of life will be held at Our Saviour's Lutheran Church on Puget Island at 11 a.m. Dowling Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
