The Wahkiakum Mules baseball team won two more games this week. They are currently tied with Adna for first place in the Central 2B League with a 3-0 league, 3-1 overall record.
On Friday at home, the Mules beat Morton/White Pass 12-0 in five innings. The Mules scored seven in the first inning and five in the third.
Starting pitcher James Anderson got the win in the one hit shutout. He pitched three innings and faced nine batters, striking out four. Terris Record pitched one inning. He faced four batters, allowed one hit and struck out one. Zach Brown pitched the final inning, facing four batters, striking out two and walking one.
On offense, Z. Brown, Record, and Tristan Collupy each had a double and two RBIs.
“We did a good job today being patient at the plate and hitting pitches we can drive,” Coach Marc Niemeyer said.
The Mules traveled to Napavine on Tuesday and won 8-4.
“We were sloppy today and didn’t prepare well,” Coach Niemeyer said. “We have to compete to get better every rep every day.”
He did have some good news, stating, “We swung the bat well today as a team.”
Anderson hit a double and drove in one run.
