Valentines Day Dance

John C. Thomas sixth, seventh, and eighth grade students practice their dance steps for five days each year in anticipation for the Valentines Day Dance. Last Wednesday afternoon, laughing, happy kids streamed onto the floor for the line dance, and later a kind of contra dance. Swing was a favorite, but when the waltz was called, more may have preferred to sit than participate. It was no matter; despite their youth, it was a graceful set that swayed back and forth, eye to eye on the floor. Photos by Diana Zimmerman.
