The Naselle High School boys basketball team is headed to the District 4 1B championship game this weekend.
The Comets will face the Taholah Chitwins in the finals on Saturday at 8 p.m. in Montesano. This the first time the two teams have met this season.
The Comets finished the regular season in first place in the Columbia Valley 1B league with an 8-0 league record, 17-5 overall. They are ranked number 8 in the Washington Interscholastic Activities Association RPI (ratings percentage index) for 1B teams.
They beat North River 79-19 in the quarterfinals on February 6 before beating Firm Foundation Christian School 72-39 in the semifinals last Saturday.
Taholah is 10-0 for the regular season, 17-3 overall. They are ranked number 11 in the WIAA RPI.
Win or lose, both teams will advance to loser out regional games, which will take place on either February 23 or 24.
