We love our volunteers! On Valentine’s Day, Wednesday, February 14th from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m., we will recognize those who are at the foundation of our Community Center. This is also an opportunity for you to come in and find out how you can volunteer – we have lots of tasks big and small. Find out how you can share a little bit of your time and make a difference in your community. There will be refreshments.
We have a new free class here at the Community Center – every Thursday morning from 10:30 a.m. – noon, come in and learn how to knit, crochet and mend with Sandra Sews. We also have a Walking Group that starts at the Community Center every morning, Monday through Friday, at 9 a.m. Come join us for a leisurely stroll around town. Friendly dogs on leash are welcome to come along. Our Walking Group loves to talk so we keep the pace comfortable.
The first of the Wahkiakum Outdoors presentations will be on Wednesday, February 21st from 2-4 p.m. The presenter, Andrew Emlen, will be focused on the two species of pelicans which inhabit the Lower Columbia River region. Andrew is a well-known birding expert in the local region and is a river kayaking guide.
This Friday’s movie is Rated R. This is a story of a war veteran, his wife and a police detective who helps them with an investigation and the search for their son. Their son is a soldier who recently returned from Iraq but has mysteriously gone missing. The movie starts at 7:00 p.m., and popcorn is free. You are also welcome to bring your own snacks.
The Wahkiakum Community Center has a new page on Facebook with all the latest events and classes. Check it out and follow us.
