Wahkiakum County law enforcement officers and emergency response personnel handled a variety of reports during the past week, including:
January 15 — 2:04 a.m. The sheriff’s office was asked to be on the lookout for a stolen vehicle heading west on SR 4 from Cowlitz County. 10:07 a.m. An Elochoman Valley resident reported a power outage. The PUD was informed. 10:33 a.m. The Washington State Department of Transportation was informed when a tree came down and was blocking both lanes of SR 4 just east of County Line Park. 2:57 p.m. A driver was given a citation for speeding on SR 4 near Nassa Point.
January 16 — 12:18 a.m. Deputies responded to a possible robbery at a home in Skamokawa. 11:48 a.m. A warrant was served at a Skamokawa home. 2:55 p.m. A resident on Middle Valley road reported that a neighbor’s goats were on his property again. According to the resident, the goats had done several hundred dollars worth of damage to his property, including trees planted along the creek by the conservation district. A deputy witnessed the goats on the property and documented the damage. 3:45 p.m. A caller reported a speeding vehicle on a Deep River road. 4:12 p.m. A caller reported that three cows were loose on Messinger Hill Road.
January 17 — 12:07 a.m. A caller reported hearing two loud explosions in the Deep River area. 1:49 p.m. A driver was given a citation for an expired registration.
January 18 — 1:41 a.m. A power outage was reported at two residences on East Valley Road. The PUD was notified and restored power at 2:53 a.m. 3:09 p.m. A caller reported that a vehicle was partially blocking a lane of traffic on SR 4 on the east side of KM. State patrol was notified. 4:02 p.m. A deputy investigated a report of possible child abuse at an Elochoman Valley home and determined it was unfounded. 4:12 p.m. A caller reported that a Cathlamet resident had cussed at him and flipped him off. The deputy made contact with the other individual who said that the person making the complaint had threatened to take him out to the woods and leave him there. The deputy advised the caller on his options. 5:44 p.m. A power outage was reported at a home on East Valley Road. 6:07 p.m. A motorist reported that he had almost been struck by a vehicle that had crossed the center line on an Elochoman Valley road. The motorist followed the vehicle and saw the driver pull into a driveway and throw a beer can out of his window. 10:18 p.m. The Grays River ambulance aided an ailing Grays River resident.
January 19 — 12:40 p.m. A driver was cited for speed on SR 4 in the Elochoman Valley area. 5:06 p.m. A deputy was sent to dispatch a deer that had been struck by a vehicle on SR 4 in the Cathlamet area. 5:11 p.m. A Rosedale resident who was the subject of a restraining order said she was being harassed by the person who had requested the order. 5:52 p.m. A deputy responded to a one vehicle accident when a car went off the roadway and into the ditch on SR 4 in Skamokawa. The driver was cited for failure to yield and expired tabs. 7:29 p.m. A caller asked deputies to drive by a Rosedale business regularly after a suspicious customer made an employee uncomfortable. 11:07 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided a Cathlamet resident who had fallen and hurt her back.
January 20 — 1:55 a.m. The sheriff’s office was asked to be on the lookout for a stolen vehicle. The driver was believed to have a stolen safe containing a firearm with him. 7:20 a.m. A caller reported that a man was sleeping in the lobby of the post office in Cathlamet. The mental health department was notified. 9:53 a.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided an ailing Rosedale resident. 2:22 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided an ailing Elochoman Valley resident. 2:41 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided a Puget Island resident with a possible heart issue.
January 21 — 5:32 a.m. A deputy responded to a one vehicle accident when a car went into a ditch on Middle Valley Road. No injuries were reported and a tow was en route. 7:29 a.m. A power outage was reported at a Puget Island home. The PUD was notified. 8:31 a.m. A caller reported that there was debris on a Skamokawa roadway. 8:55 a.m. A caller reported that a tree had come down and was blocking a Puget Island road. 12:19 p.m. An Elochoman Valley resident was concerned that someone might hit a vehicle that had been left in front of his property. 3:52 p.m. A caller reported that an individual was panhandling in the parking lot of a Cathlamet business. 8:16 p.m. A caller reported a transient was hanging out at the post office in Cathlamet. 8:51 p.m. A deputy and the Cathlamet ambulance responded to the report of an overdose at a Cathlamet home. 10:07 p.m. A caller complained about noise at a neighbor’s home.
January 22 — 9:15 a.m. A caller reported that a lock on his gate had been cut and fuel had been stolen from his Deep River home.
