Mule respond with win at Mossyrock
The Naselle Comets defeated the Wahkiakum Mules 57-51 last Friday to claim the KM Trophy for basketball.
The Comets led 12-9 after one quarter, but the Mules were on top 21-19 at halftime and 37-35 after three quarters. The Comets outscored the Mules 22-14 in the fourth quarter to win.
"Their in your face defense really bothered us all night and made it difficult to get in a rhythm on the offensive end," said Mule Coach Todd Souvenir.
The Comets executed from the charity stripe late in the game, Souvenir added, making 13 of 14 free throws to close out the game.
Jacob Eaton led balanced Comet scoring with 12 points; Kolby Glenn had 11, Antonio Nolan 10, Ethan Lindstrom seven, Cole Dorman and Oggie Lopez five each, Corey Gregory four, and Donny Edwards three.
For the Mules, Brody Carlson and Zach Brown each scored 16; L. Brown had 14, Logan LaBerge four and Evan Quigley one.

On Monday, the Mules traveled to Mossyrock and beat the Vikings 68-46.
The Mules led 20-14 after one quarter, 37-21 at halftime, and 59-36 after three quarters.
"It was nice to get a win and start building some confidence with this young team," Souvenir said. "I was very pleased with our ball movement and the guys seeing and making the extra pass.
"Logan (LaBerge) shot the ball well and got us going, and our rebounding really helped us keep the momentum throughout the game."
Z. Brown grabbed 19 boards, Ashden Niemeyer eight, KC Beery seven, and Carlson and L. Brown six each.
LaBerge led the scoring with 25 points; L. Brown put in 13, Z. Brown and Carlson 12 each, Beery, Niemeyer and Jake Leitz four each, and Casey Wilson two.
