Established as The Skamokawa Eagle in 1891
The Cowlitz/Wahkiakum Council of Governments (CWCOG) will be holding meetings in each city and town within Cowlitz and Wahkiakum counties to discuss the formation of a new, two-county economic development district.
Economic Development Districts created through federal law are required to establish a strategic blueprint for regional collaboration. This document is known as the Comprehensive Economic Development Strategy (CEDS). The CEDS will take into consideration the plans and interests of associate economic development organizations such as the Cowlitz Economic Development Council, the Wahkiakum Chamber, regional ports, cities and counties.
The purpose of the public meetings is to seek input from a diverse group of residents and businesses on the economic development needs within the region. Participation from the public at the events would be greatly appreciated.
A meeting is scheduled for Cathlamet on November 28, 6 p.m., in the meeting room of the Cathlamet Fire station, 255 S 2nd Street. Other scheduled meetings include Nov. 27, Port of Kalama Board Room, Kalama; Nov. 29. McClelland Center, Longview, and Dec. 12, Woodland Middle School Library. All start at 6 p.m.
