Bridge construction process proceeds

A vehicle passes over the beat up deck of the Puget Island bridge. The Washington Department of Transportation expects contractors will begin work to replace the deck and paint the bridge next year.

Next month, the Puget Island bridge project is expected to go out for advertisement, according to Washington State Department of Transportation communications officer, Tamara Greenwell. Contractors will bid on the project in December.

"Every contractor does work differently," Greenwell said. "Once we have a contractor on board, we'll be doing more outreach with the public."

Greenwell believed that WSDOT would have more information about what to expect during construction sometime in January or February 2018.
