Seafood Direct Marketing Course for fishermen starts Monday

In cooperation with the University of Alaska SeaGrant, WSU Wahkiakum County Extension is offering a tuition-free course in Direct Seafood Marketing for commercial fishermen and their families.

Upon completion participants will be able to:

• Understand the seafood direct marketing industry.

• Learn how to start a business and increase income.

• Develop a plan that maximizes profitability.

• Identify key contacts and resources for market opportunities.

The course will be offered in Cathlamet through videoconferencing with University of Alaska. Classes will be in the Wahkiakum County Courthouse at the 3rd Floor Commissioners’ Meeting Room, 6:30 to 9 p.m., Mondays and Wednesdays, October 23 through November 6. Snacks and beverages will be provided. Fishermen and their families can attend free of charge through a grant with the Wahkiakum County Marine Resources Committee. Space is limited.
