Sports calendar for the coming week: Today (Thursday), high school football at Washington School for the Deaf at 3:30 p.m., middle school football at Jewell at 4 p.m., middle school volleyball in Naselle with Ocosta at 5:45 p.m .; Saturday, cross country Grizzly Invite at Hoquiam at 10 a.m .; Monday, middle school volleyball in Naselle with Raymond at 5:45 p.m., JV football in Naselle with Ilwaco at 6 p.m .; Tuesday, cross country at Ilwaco at 4 p.m., high school volleyball in Naselle with Three Rivers Christian at 4:30 p.m .; Wednesday, middle school volleyball at North Beach at 5:45 p.m. Go Comets!
Each week the Washington Interscholastic Activities Association announces its athlete of the week winners. Naselle junior, Holly Disch, was one of the selectees for the fourth week, with her outstanding performance in the previous week’s volleyball game. She made 62 kills, 23 aces, 19 digs and 16 blocks in 12 sets of play.
Winners of this honor must be in good academic standing in their particular school and are only eligible to receive the recognition once in an academic year. Congratulations, Holly for a job well done. You bring pride to your school, your family and your community.
Week number 2 of Coach Quilhaugh’s session Basketball Camp at the Naselle High School will be held this Saturday with the third session taking place October 14, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. each day. The cost for each of the clinics will be $25 per player per clinic or $40 per clinic for two siblings.The camp is open for boys and girls in 7th - 12th grades.

Get your tickets now for Grays River Covered Bridge Dinner taking place this weekend on Saturday, the 7th at 4:30 p.m. Tickets can be purchased at the Bank of the Pacific in Naselle and Cathlamet, and at the Extension office in Cathlamet; $35 regular admission, Grand Americans; veterans and people 72 and older) are $25.
Just a thought and a suggestion, why not enjoy your Lamp Lit Dinner at the Covered Bridge and then head to the Valley Bible for more good music by Carl Wirkkala and fellowship with the Naselle-Finnish American Committee’s program celebrating Finland’s Declaration of Independence?
The Rosburg Community Club’s annual Holiday Bazaar isn’t that far away. It will take place this year on October 28 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Rosburg Hall.
A variety of local vendors will give you the perfect chance to get some early Christmas shopping done and know that you are supporting our local economy. Table spaces are available by calling 360 465-2234. The Rosburg Community Club bake sale will be up and running, as well.
While you shop, stop and enjoy a delicious luncheon beginning at 11:30 a.m. The menu includes chicken, hot rolls, salads and dessert as well as coffee and juice.
