Wahkiakum Cross Country

The cross country season started for the Wahkiakum Mules in September.

On September 7 at La Center, freshman Ellie Hiatt led the girl’s team in the 1.5 mile run, taking 19th place with a time of 11:46.6. She was followed by junior Chloe Wu, who had a time of 15:17.6, and took 51st place. Ayesha Ahmed, a senior, placed 61st with a time of 19:23.9.

Leif Carroll, a junior, is the sole runner for the boy’s team. He took 76th place with a time of 11:30.9 in boy’s competition.

On September 12, the team traveled to Toutle for a Central 2B meet.

Carroll took 31st place with a time of 27:35.24 in the 2.75 mile race.

For the girls, Hiatt came in fifth with a time of 22:20.8, approximately three minutes behind the leader. Wu took 22nd place with a time of 30:32.54, and Ahmed placed 25th with a time of 44:20.53.

The Mules next traveled to Toledo on September 19 for another Central 2B meet.

Hiatt finished the 5,000 meter race in 15th place with a time of 26:10 for the girls. Wu ran a 33:24, and took 34th.

Carroll took 45th place in the boy’s run with a time of 29:23.

In Kalama for a Central 2B meet on September 26, Hiatt finished the three mile race in 26:12.8 for sixth place. Wu placed 18th with a time of 34:41.3, and Ahmed took 22nd place with a time of 46:23.8.

Carroll took 45th place with a time of 28:01.06.

The Mules competed on Tuesday at a 1B/2B meet in Onalaska. Times were not posted by press time.

Next Tuesday, the team travels to Ilwaco for a three mile JW Black Lake meet.
