Established as The Skamokawa Eagle in 1891
Wahkiakum students Teylor Sauer, Laila Abdul-Kariem, Jordyn Keithley Watson, Randall Ecklund, Shantelle Shurvey, Shelby McEneny, and Myron Will went to the Washington State FFA dairy judging contest last Saturday.
Shantelle placed first overall out of about 60 contestants with Laila following in third and Jordyn placing fifth.
Special thanks to Myron's mom, Sharla Will, and Shelby's mom, Sherry McEneny, for aiding in the contest and transporting them all the way to Puyallup.
The students were given cardstock and were required to classify each of the cows according to the animals' body health and udders. We had two teams with Jordyn and Teylor on one team and the rest of the contestants on the other. Jordyn and Teylor's team placed 11th, and the other team placed first.
The FFA will host a dinner on October 11 at the high school for fundraising. For more information, please contact advisor Mr. Hurley at Wahkiakum High School.
