The South Bend Indians handed the Wahkiakum Mules a 28-6 loss in non-league football last Friday.
"We couldn't stop Ben Byington," Mule Coach Eric Hansen said. The 5-10, 185 lb. running back tallied 230 yards rushing and scored all four of his team's touchdowns.
The Mules hurt themselves, including a couple turnovers that South Bend quickly turned into scores.
South Bend scored twice in the first quarter for a 14-0 lead and again in the second quarter to lead 20-0 at halftime.
The Mules put points on the board in the third quarter; James Anderson carried the ball in from four yards out.
Byington scored on a 24-yard run to start the fourth quarter and set up the final 28-6 score.
The Mules had 142 yards on the ground and 68 in the air. Anderson gained 82 yards; Zach Brown 50, and Lucas Brown 10. L. Brown completed five passes; Anderson had two catches for 24 yards; and K.C. Berry and Santos Wright each caught passes.
Z. Brown and Kishor Wolf each had 12 tackles; L. Brown and Anderson each had 11, Tristan Collupy nine, Wilson eight, Beery, Wright and Evan Quigley seven each.
The 2-1 Mules host the 1-2 Raymond Seagulls this Friday in a 7 p.m. homecoming football game. The Gulls have a win over Friday Harbor and losses to Rainier and Napavine.
