Wahkiakum County law enforcement officers and emergency response personnel handled a variety of reports during the past week, including:
August 28 — 6:38 a.m. A Grays River resident reported that an alarm had been activated at her home. 7:19 a.m. A caller was concerned about what appeared to be an empty boat in the river near Skamokawa. 7:40 a.m. An alarm was activated at a home in Cathlamet. 12:07 p.m. An individual was taken into custody after a vehicle stop on SR 4 in the Elochoman area. 3:20 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided a Cathlamet resident who was having a seizure after he received a cut to his hand. 3:44 p.m. Deputies, the District 4 Fire Department and the Cathlamet ambulance responded to a one vehicle car accident on SR 4 at Nassa Point. 6:16 p.m. A motorist complained that he locked up his breaks and a motorcyclist had gone off the road in an effort to avoid a driver who was passing recklessly on SR 4. A deputy made contact with the driver who claimed he had passed when it was clear. He also admitted that he was wearing his seatbelt incorrectly.
August 29 — 4:26 a.m. A caller asked for a welfare check on an injured deer on SR 4 in the Elochoman area. 8:26 a.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided a Skamokawa resident who had fallen and was unable to get up on his own. 11:53 a.m. A caller reported that a couple of people were panhandling at a Rosedale business. 3:31 p.m. A Cathlamet business asked to have an individual trespassed. 3:40 p.m. A caller reported that horses were loose in the Elochoman Valley. 6:54 p.m. A representative from the mental health department checked on a Cathlamet resident after he called 911 and hung up. 8:52 p.m. A caller reported an erratic driver heading west on SR 4 in the Skamokawa area. 11:49 p.m. Deputies and the Puget Island Fire Department responded to the report of a brush fire on Puget Island. They had the fire out by 12:01 a.m.
August 30 — 8:45 a.m. A Cathlamet resident reported that his soda water had been poisoned. 9:57 a.m. A landlord asked for assistance at a Puget Island residence. 12:38 p.m. A caller reported that his neighbor’s cows were on his property on Middle Valley Road. 3:35 p.m. A caller reported a recent domestic disturbance at a Rosedale home. 6:52 p.m. The District 4 Fire Department responded to a brush fire on Beaver Creek Road. They could not reach the area, so the Department of Natural Resources was contacted. 7:07 p.m. A juvenile was taken into custody when a Cathlamet resident, a family friend, asked for assistance. The child was not allowed in her home, and the youth’s father was calling, angry. There were questions about who had custody of the child.
August 31 — 12:29 p.m. Deputies, the District 4 Fire Department, and the Cathlamet ambulance responded to a three vehicle accident on SR 4 near the school access road in Cathlamet. 2:09 p.m. A boater on the Columbia River near Pillar Rock needed a tow. A deputy responded. 3:17 p.m. A caller reported a speeding vehicle passing in a no passing zone on SR 4. 3:17 p.m. An alarm was activated at a home in Cathlamet. 7:35 p.m. A caller asked for assistance when he couldn’t close a window at Johnson Park in Rosburg.
September 1 — 7:49 a.m. A power outage was reported at a Cathlamet home when a transformer allegedly exploded. The PUD responded. 11:23 a.m. A caller reported an erratic driver on SR 4 near Nassa Point. 12:53 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance transported a Cathlamet clinic patient with abdominal pain to a hospital. 9:22 p.m. A caller reported the violation of a protection order. A deputy determined that there had been no violation and explained how to apply for an order. 11:46 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided a Puget Island resident with heart problems.
September 2 — 1:38 a.m. A caller reported an abandoned Jeep blocking the northbound lane of a Puget Island road. There was damage to the guardrail, an airbag had been deployed, and the vehicle lights were on. State patrol responded and a tow was called. 12:56 p.m. A caller reported that his Jeep had been stolen. 1:35 p.m. A Little Cape Horn resident reported that the driver of a motorhome had dumped its septic tank on his property. 1:50 p.m. An alarm was activated at a Rosedale business. 3:22 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided a Puget Island resident with a pressure sore. 5:18 p.m. An alarm was activated at a Cathlamet home. 5:27 p.m. A caller reported that a boat had broken down in the Columbia River. The owner tied up to the city dock and said help was on the way. 8:11 p.m. An individual at the marina in Cathlamet reported that he was being harassed.
September 3 — 1:54 a.m. A deputy and the Cathlamet ambulance responded when an assault was reported at an Alger Creek home. 10:45 a.m. A Rosburg resident reported hearing shots fired. 11:55 a.m. An alarm was activated at an Elochoman Valley home. 2:03 p.m. A caller reported that he had been bitten by a dog on Puget Island. 6:55 p.m. A caller reported that he was being harassed by his neighbor in the Elochoman Valley. 9:27 p.m. A caller reported that someone was setting off fireworks at the marina in Cathlamet. 10:18 p.m. An alarm was activated at a Cathlamet home. 10:54 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided a man in Cathlamet with chest pain. 10:58 p.m. An individual was taken into custody after a disturbance in Cathlamet.
