Established as The Skamokawa Eagle in 1891
It has been a busy last couple of weeks here in Wahkiakum County. I thought I would remind folks of the events happening this week here at the Community Center.
We are continuing our Free Book Exchange, so if you have any books you would like to donate we will gladly accept them. And, if you just want to stop in and pick up some free books you are welcome to-no need to bring books! There is still quite a selection, but we can use some additional children and youth books. We have recently received two large boxes of woodworking manuals and books. It is an impressive collection generously donated by our own wood carving guru, Walt Geil. Walt offers wood carving here at the Community Center every Tuesday night from 6-9 p.m. All are welcome to attend. For beginners that need a project call Walt at 795-0433 or walt@geil1.com.
Our Brown Bag gatherings at the Community Center are each Friday at 11:00 a.m., with the exception of the second Friday of the month, which is Book Club (same time and also open to the public). It is a wonderful opportunity to chat and have a nice time with new and old friends and acquaintances. Coffee, tea and snacks are provided or you could bring your lunch and eat while chatting. Please feel free to join in on Fridays. If you have any questions please call our Volunteer Host Joyce Orr, 360-430-3968.
This Friday’s Free Movie Night is featuring an adult drama called “Johnny Got His Gun.” Movies start at 7 p.m. Popcorn is provided, or you are welcome to bring your own snacks or pre-order a pizza from Sharon’s Pizza.
Please keep in mind our monthly Goodwill Free Computer Classes and WorkSource Employment assistance. These are held every first Wednesday of the month from 10:00-12:00 here at the center. The next one is September 6. And it is all free! No appointment necessary.
