PI Fire hosting Night Out event

As part of the National Night Out community building program, the Puget Island Fire Department will host an event next Tuesday, 6:30 p.m. at the department fire hall on SR 409.

Chief Mike Beutler said fire fighters will serve root beer floats; he also expects a visit from the Wahkiakum County Sheriff's Department.

This is the Island department's first Night Out event.

"It's kind of a last minute decision," he said. "We said, let's just do it."
