The Wahkiakum County Sheriff's Department is sponoring the annual National Night Out event to be held August 1.
National Night Out is a community-building campaign that promotes police-community partnerships and neighborhood camaraderie to make our neighborhoods a safer, better place to live.
Neighborhoods across the nation host block parties, festivals, parades, cookouts and other various community events with safety demonstrations, seminars, youth events, visits from emergency personnel and exhibits.
"This year in Wahkiakum County, we again encourage everyone to get together with their neighbors on the evening of August 1st, building community relationships," Emergency Services Coordinator Beau Renfro said in a news release.
"If you would like a sheriff's deputy to visit your neighborhood's event, please call 795-3242 or 465-2202 and give them the location and hours of your event."
