The Naselle-Grays River Valley School District Board of Directors met for its monthly meeting on July 18. Before the regular meeting, a special meeting was held for a hearing on the proposed 2017-18 school operating budget. The board then completed a self-assessment and engaged in discussion around goals for the 2017-18 school year.
During the regular board meeting, two personnel matters were approved. The board approved the hire of Travis Boggs, head cook, and Sylvia Hoagland, middle school volleyball coach on a one year leave replacement.
Several other items of business were addressed. The board approved the 2017-18 operating budget and the purchase of 27 Mac Computers with Youth Camp carryover funds. For the K-3 students, the purchase of 45 Chromebooks was also approved. Finally, a contact with Pacific County was approved for school nursing services. In her report, Ms Nelson commended the efforts of groundskeepers Lamar Wirkkala and Regan Wirkkala. Nelson also reported that the multi-purpose building was nearing completion.
The next regularly scheduled board meeting is August 15 at 6:30 p.m. at the Grays River Fire Hall.
