Established as The Skamokawa Eagle in 1891
Please be sure to stop in to the Community Center during Bald Eagle Days this Saturday! We will have all departments of Health and Human Services represented to offer information. And while you are here, enter a chance to win a new car seat. The winner will be contacted on Monday to arrange an appointment at the Health Department for the child to be weighed and measured so the correct car seat can be installed by two of the department’s certified child passenger safety technicians. Look for some of Wahkiakum County Health and Human Services staff in the parade walking with the Wahkiakum-On-The-Move bus. Wahkiakum Community Network will be outside selling cotton candy and a representative from SHIBA will also be on hand to answer any of your Health Insurance questions. The Community Center will serve as a Respite Center offering cold water and healthy snacks outside on the porch. It appears that it may be a warm day, so please stop by and check us out! Our Free Book Exchange has been so popular that we have decided to keep it going, so it’s not too late to grab some new summer reads.
On Wednesday, July 19, we will offer free hearing screening at the center from 2:00-5:00 p.m. This is an invaluable free service for all ages. Avada Hearing is committed to serving our county and will also offer a more extensive testing, if needed, at no cost. No appointment necessary, just drop in. If you need assistance with transportation, please call Wahkiakum-On-The-Move, 795-3101.
The following week we will have the Community Robotics Presentation on Wednesday, July 26 from 6:00-8:00 p.m., and then Free Family Bingo Night on Saturday, July 29 from 6:00-7:30 p.m.
It’s been wonderful how many of you pop in to say hello and visit. All of your suggestions and ideas have been fantastic! Keep the feedback coming. I truly appreciate the amount of support from this community. Please feel free to call me with any questions you have, 795-7870. Thank you!
