Lure coursing events this weekend

The hounds are running again this weekend at Misty Rivers Plantation, 117 Cross Dike Road on Puget Island. The Willamette Valley Basenji Club is sponsoring two AKC Sight Hound lure coursing events on Saturday and Sunday June 10-11. Only AKC registered sight hounds may enter, but all dogs are invited to attend as spectators if accompanied by a well-leashed, well behaved owner.

The hounds will chase an artificial bunny around a thousand yard course, competing two and three at a time for Best in Breed. At the end of the day the best of each breed compete with each other for Best in Field. Registration is at 8 a.m., and running commences around 9 a.m. Contestants may park in back on the running field, spectators in front along the driveway. Restrooms and handicapped parking are available in the back.
