Established as The Skamokawa Eagle in 1891

Doris Takko

Doris Arlene Takko, 72, was surrounded by family when she passed away May 27, 2017 in Longview, WA. Doris was born in Astoria, OR on May 21, 1945 and spent most of her life living in southwest Washington State. Within a week of being diagnosed with cancer her health rapidly deteriorated.

She is survived by her daughter Adrienne Hauff and sons Levi and Jonathan, and Sam Longtain of Cathlamet; and daughter Beth Weber-Guarino of San Jose, CA, and husband Michael Guarino and son Adam. She is also survived by her brother Dean Takko and wife Debra of Longview, and nephew Nathan Takko and wife Hayley and daughters Grace and Ella.

Doris graduated from Ilwaco High School in 1963 and lived on the Long Beach Peninsula and in Bellingham during her first marriage. With her second husband, they traveled extensively in the Northwest and Central America as real estate investors and settled in San Jose, Costa Rica where they lived for many years.

Upon returning to the USA in the mid 80's when her marriage dissolved, Doris lived in Cathlamet caring for her mother for many years. Doris also worked off and on as a cook and caretaker in Bay Center, Cathlamet and Olympia. She was an avid Golden State Warriors, San Francisco Giants and 49er's fan. Not many had the extensive knowledge that she did of where players went to college, where they played over their career and major plays/games. She was always up for a game of cribbage and family competitions got quite loud and competitive. Another favorite game of hers was poker.

A celebration of life will be held at the Skamokawa Grange at 2 p.m., on Saturday, June 17 in her memory.
