Track and Field

Several women on the Wahkiakum Mules track and field team qualified for the district meet at last Friday’s Central 2B Sub-district meet in Kalama, but the season ended for all the Mule men.

According to Coach Eric Hansen, athletes had to have a top six finish in field events or the 1600m and 3200m races, or be a top four finisher in a lane event to qualify for district.

Qualifiers for district include:

Macie Elliot, who won the 400m with a time of 1:03.36, a new personal record. Cheyenne Barton finished in third place with a time of 1:05.10.

Ellie Leitz took second place in the 800m with a time of 2:35.22. She also took fourth place in the triple jump with a distance of 30-10.

Tarah Wisner threw the shot put 28-09, enough for a sixth place finish.

Mckensi Fluckiger qualified for two field events. She took fifth place in the long jump with a distance of 14-11 and third place in the triple jump, clearing 31-05.25, a new personal record.

The 800m relay team of Barton, Charlie Ashe, Fluckiger, and Elliott finished in second place with a time of 1:54.13. The 1600m relay team of Ashe, Fluckiger, Leitz, and Elliott took fourth place with a time of 4:33.85.

The 2B District Meet will be held at W.F. West in Chehalis on Friday, May 19.
