The Wahkiakum Mules track and field team competed in two events this week. Last Thursday, they traveled to Onalaska, and on Tuesday, they competed in the only home event of the season.
Seven schools were represented in the Central 2B track meet in Onalaska last Thursday. The Mules took fourth place in women’s competition with 98 points, and sixth in men’s competition with 21 points.
For the men, Earth Sakworawich took sixth place in the 400 meters with a time of 58.88, a personal record.
Steven Yu PR’d (set a personal record) in two events. He finished the 1600 meters with a time of 6:29.81 for sixth place. He also took fourth place in the 110 meter hurdles with a time of 22.09.
Seth Kuljis finished the 3200 meters with a time of 14:35.82 and placed fourth.
K.C. Beery placed fourth in the triple jump with a distance of 32-00.
In women’s competition, Ellie Leitz won the 800 meter race with a time of 2:51.08. Grayci Thomas took second place with a time of 2:53.91.
The 4x400 relay team of Cheyenne Barton, Charlie Ashe, Leitz, and Macie Elliott took first place with a time of 4:38.32. The 4x100 relay team of Barton, Destiny McGowan, Mckensi Fluckiger, and Elliott took third place with a time of 55.75. The 4x200 relay team of Barton, Ashe, Thomas, and Elliott took second place with a time of 1:57.10.
Barton took third place in the 200 meters with a time of 28.26, a personal record (PR).
Trinity Klecker got a new (PR) and placed second in the 100 meter hurdles with a time of 18.08 and fourth in the 300 meter hurdles with a time of 59.19.
Ashe took third place in the 300 meter hurdles with a time of 57.68.
Fluckiger took second place in the triple jump with a distance of 30-04.50 and fifth place in the long jump.
Tarah Wisner took second place in the shot put with a distance of 30-03.
Rayanna Carlon placed fifth in both the shot put and the discus with distances of 26-02 and 69-00 respectively.
On Tuesday in a Central 2 B meet at home with five teams attending, the Mules took first place with 71 points in women’s competition and fifth place with 13 points in men’s competition.
Leitz won the 800 meters with a time of 2:41.77. She also took second in the triple jump with a distance of 32-04.5.
Macie Elliott took first place in the 400 meters for the fifth time this season. She finished the race with a time of 1:03.85.
McGowan placed fifth in the 100 meters with a time of 14.73.
Barton took second place in the 400 meters with a time of 1:06.10.
Thomas took second place in the 800 meters with a time of 2:47.47.
Carlon finished the 1600 meters with a time of 7:51.51 and took third place. Izabel Lee pulled in eight seconds later for fourth place and a 8:00.00 finish.
Carlon also took second place in the discus with a throw of 69-07.
Klecker improved her 100 meter hurdle time by .21 of a second for a second place finish and a time of 17.87. She also took third in the 300 meter hurdles with a time of 57.66 followed by Ashe, who took fourth with a time of 1:02.64.
The 4x400 relay team of Barton, Thomas, McGowan, and Elliott took third place with a time of 57.13. The 4x200 relay team of Barton, Ashe, Fluckiger, and Elliott took first place with a time of 1:53.54.
Wisner won the shot put event, throwing a distance of 30-00. She also took fourth place in the discus with a throw of 61-00.
Ashe took second place in the high jump, clearing 4-06.
Fluckiger won the long jump and got a new PR of 15-01. She took third place in the triple jump with a distance of 29-02.
Beery took second place in the 800 meters in men’s competition. He finished with a time of 2:21.65. He also took fourth place in the triple jump with a distance of 31-02.
Kuljis improved his time in the 3200 with a 14:14.19 and took third place. He also took sixth place in the discus with a throw of 73-11.
Yu took fourth place in the 110 meter hurdles with a time of 22.20.
The 4x400 relay team of Sakworawich, Yu, Kuljis, and Beery took third place with a time of 4:33.30.
