Sheriff's Report

Wahkiakum County law enforcement officers and emergency response personnel handled a variety of reports during the past week, including:

April 24--2:51 a.m. The Grays River ambulance responded to a Deep River residence to aid a man possibly having a stroke. 3:53 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to a West Sunny Sands residence.

April 25--7:46 a.m. An officer arrested a man in the Elochoman Valley on a charge of possessing methamphetamine. 10:57 a.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to a Cathlamet residence to aid a woman with breathing trouble. 3:05 p.m. a Cape Horn resident complained about a neighbor's dog threatening her; an officer investigated. 4:05 p.m. An officer cited a driver for improper cell phone and seat belt use. 5:13 p.m. A West Valley resident reported a neighbor's cows were loose. 5:50 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to a Puget Island residence to aid a man with abdominal trouble. 10:47 p.m. A West Birnie Slough Road resident complained about an ongoing problem with a neighbor's dog.

April 26--10:41 a.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to a Cathlamet residence to aid a woman with breathing trouble. 7:20 a.m. A motorist reported the driver of a grey Malibu westbound on SR 4 at Abernathy Creek was all over the road; an officer couldn't locate the vehicle.

April 27--10:23 a.m. a caller reported being harassed at school; a deputy was advised. 2:21 p.m. An officer issued a citation to a driver at a traffic stop at Milepost 29 on SR 4. 4:59 p.m. A West Valley resident reported a neighbor's cows were loose; the owner was contacted. 5:30 p.m. A Rosedale resident reported being harassed. 6:57 p.m. A dispatcher responded to a 911 hangup call; an officer was advised; officers were told there had been no physical violence. 8:30 p.m. An officer issued a citation to a driver at a traffic stop at Milepost 33 on SR 4. 11:58 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to a Cape Horn residence to aid a man with breathing trouble.

April 28--6:55 a.m. A Little Island Road resident reported seeing a loose cow on the dike road. 10:43 a.m. A caller reported seeing speeding vehicles on SR 4 near Rosburg; a deputy responded. 11:50 a.m. A deputy arrested a person at a traffic stop in Skamokawa for custodial interference and driving while license suspended. 1:06 p.m. A deputy cited a driver for speeding on SR 4 at Cathlamet. 3:45 p.m. A deputy responded to assist Children's Protective Services personnel. 6:09 p.m., A deputy cited a driver for having no driver's licence or vehicle insurance. 9:37 p.m. A driver was arrested after failing a field sobriety test at a vehicle stop on Risk Road.

April 29--12:33 p.m. A caller reported seeing wires sticking out of the ground at a pump house and suspected theft of power; Wahkiakum PUD was notified. 3:03 p.m. A caller reported the driver of a gray Nissan westbound on SR 4 near Mill Creek had passed several cars and was speeding toward Cathlamet; an officer contacted the vehile's owner. 4:59 p.m. A Cathlamet resident reported a person was trespassing; a deputy was notified. 5:24 p.m. An East Valley resident reported that the driver of a maroon car was driving very slowly in both lanes and was studying houses in a suspicious manner; an officer investigated. 5:25 p.m. An Island View Lane resident reported hearing shots and people yelling; an officer investigated. 7:15 p.m. A Little Island resident reported that cows were out and on the highway; the owner was contacted. 8:17 p.m. An officer stopped a vehicle on SR 4 near County Line Park and cited the driver for speeding.

April 30--The Cathlamet ambulance responded to a Cathlamet residence to aid a person with a blood clot. 9:59 a.m. A Little Island resident reported seeing a loose calf lying on the roadway. 4:25 p.m. An officer stopped a vehicle on SR 4 east of Cathlamet and cited the driver for speed and also warned of having too many passengers. 5:21 p.m. An officer stopped a vehicle on SR 4 near Skamokawa and arrested the driver, who failed a field sobriety test. 6:43 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to aid a woman experiencing chest pain.

Officers issued 27 warnings during the week to drivers for issues such as speed and dysfunctional lights.
