Filing starts May 15 for 2017 elections

Filing for local offices on the 2017 election ballots will run May 15-19 in the office of the Wahkiakum County Auditor, 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and 1:30- 4 p.m.

Positions on the ballot and their current office holders include:

Town Of Cathlamet, mayor; Dale Jacobson, incumbent; four-year term; $30 filing fee.

Councilman Position 3, Sue Cameron, incumbent; four-year term; $10 filing fee.

Councilman Position 4, Bernadette Goodroe, incumbent; four-year term; $10 filing fee.

Councilman Position 5, Andrew Lea, incumbent; four-year term; $10 filing fee. Lea has announced he won't run for re-election.

Fire District 1, Commissioner 2, James Jespersen, incumbent; six-year term; $12 filing fee.

Fire District 2, Commissioner 2, Oliver Van Den Berghe; six-year term, $10 filing fee.

Fire District 3, Commissioner 1, Linda Strong, incumbent; six-year term; no filing fee.

Fire District 4, Commissioner 2, James McCoy, incumbent; six-year term; filing fee $12.48.

Cemetery District 1, Commissioner 2, Crystal Stanley, incumbent; six-year term; no filing fee.

Cemetery District 1, Commissioner 2, Theresa Kuljis, incumbent; six-year term; no filing fee.

Port District1, Commissioner 2, Scott Anderson, incumbent; six-year term; filing fee $13.68.

Port District 2, Commissioner 3, Lori Scott, incumbent; six-year term; filing fee $13.68. Scott has announced she will not run for re-election. The position represents the Deep River and Rosburg/Altoona precincts.

Wahkiakum School District 200, Director 1, Shawn Merz, incumbent; four-year term; no filing fee, Puget Island precincts.

Wahkiakum School District 200, Director 3, Sue O'Connor, incumbent; no filing fee; Elochoman and Skamokawa precincts.

Wahkiakum District 200, Director 5, Robin Westphall, incumbent; four-year term; no filing fee; at large position.

There will be a special filing period the following week if any positions have no candidates after the initial filing period.
