Sports calendar for the Naselle Comets teams this week include: Thursday, baseball and fast pitch at Wishkah at 4 p.m .; Friday, high school track at Chehalis Activator Invite; Saturday, high school track at Chehalis Activator Invite, baseball with Mary M Knight in Naselle at noon; Monday, fast pitch at Oakville at 4 p.m .; Wednesday, middle school track meet at South Bend at 3:30 p.m., fast pitch at Montesano at 4 p.m. Go Comets!

Students will be released at 12:30 p.m. on Wednesday for in-service.

Just a head’s up for some great entertainment beginning next weekend. There will be several performances of Disney’s The Little Mermaid Jr. presented by the Naselle Drama Club, to be performed on the following dates in the Naselle Commons: April 28 and April 29 at 7 p.m., April 30 at 2 p.m., May 5 and 6 at 7 p.m. ending with a Sunday matinee on May 7 at 2 p.m.

Not only do our kids get exposed to great academic education but also to the performing arts as well, in the Naselle-Grays River Valley School District. Here’s your chance to experience and applaud the students hard work, by attending one of their performances. Let them know we appreciate all the rehearsals and the time they invested in bringing such a fun event for the enjoyment of our community.

Break out the bibs, gather the family and head to the Rosburg Hall this Sunday for a home style, home cooked chicken dinner, sponsored by the Rosburg Community Club. The meal will be served from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Adults and teens: $10, age 6 to 12: $5 and age 3 to 6: $3. You will enjoy the baked chicken dinner including the huge salad bar and for dessert--your choice of the famous home made pies and other desserts. One thing is certain, you won’t leave this event hungry.

Proceeds from this fundraiser help to maintain the Rosburg Hall and the many other projects provided for by the Rosburg Community Club.

The Area Agency on Aging and Disabilities of Southwest Washington is offering information and assistance for seniors, adults living with a disability and family caregivers. For the convenience of those citizens who might be interested in more information here on the west end, you can make an appointment to speak with someone by calling Carol Glowaki at 360 795-8630 option 3. On the second and fourth Thursdays of each month between 1 p.m. and 5 p.m., someone is available to speak with you at Johnson Park in the Health and Human Services office located there. Application brochures for the 33rd annual Great White Tail Run are now available. Pick them up at many of our local businesses, and pre-register for this fun event that is sponsored by the Wahkiakum County 4-H. This year’s event will take place on May 20. The Rosburg Wednesday Senior Lunch Bunch meets every week in the Rosburg Hall for a homecooked meal prepared and served by Pat Potter and her volunteer crew.

On Thursdays a senior lunch is also served at the Rosburg Hall and that meal is sponsored by CAP. Lunch is served on both days at noon.
