Wahkiakum Mule Golf

The Mules golf team moved their intra-district record to 5-1-1, tying Life Christian Academy at 186 and downing defending state champs Ilwaco 200 on a dry day in Tacoma at Allenmore Golf course on April 11.

The young Mules are a balanced squad which is an advantage in a best four of six person match. This week they were led by the number five position player, freshman Isaac Moon, who posted a personal best 44 to finish in fourth place in the 16 man event. No Mule finished in the top three places but they did finish fourth, fifth, sixth and seventh.

Top players Tyler St. Onge and Bryce Good had off days but managed to shoot 48 each, and the same for Zach Johnston 46. Accept for Isaac we didn't have a particularly good day, which was expected when you play a course for the first time after a two hour drive. Elijah Doiron 61 and Joseph Savelio 62 are struggling to play as good in a match as they do in practice, but they're working hard. I'm hoping they can get comfortable by district, if so we'll have six solid players to make a run at district and hopefully state. Heidi Bruntmeyer completed her first nine hole match with a 69.

The next match is today (Thursday) in Chehalis versus Adna and the Willapa Harbor schools at Riverside golf course.
