The Wahkiakum Mules baseball team returned from spring break ready to play. They beat the Winlock Cardinals twice in a double header on Saturday, 12-2 and 12-1.
Terris Record pitched for the win in the first round of the double header. He threw six innings, allowed four hits and no runs, and struck out 11 batters. Zach Brown finished the game and allowed two runs.
On offense, Z. Brown went 3 for 4 at bat. Z. Brown, Hank Ferguson, and Jacob Cavender all hit a double and drove in two runs apiece. Record, Cody Terpsma, and Tristan Collupy contributed one RBI apiece.
In game two, Z. Brown pitched five innings and struck out seven batters.
Z. Brown was 4 for 4 at bat. He hit a triple, a double, and drove in one run. Beau Carlson hit a double and drove in one run. Ferguson and Collupy had two RBIs each. Luke Brown, Casey Wilson, and Jacob Cavender all contributed one RBI.
"Zach (Brown) and Terris (Record) pitched really well and limited walks,” Coach Marc Niemeyer said. “We had some guys step up and as a team we hit the ball well.”
The Mules traveled to LaCenter on Wednesday. The game report was not available by press time, but the score will be posted on the Wahkiakum Eagle Sports Report page on Facebook.
On Saturday, the Mules will travel to Corvallis, Ore., to play Mossyrock in a double header in the stadium at Oregon State University.
