Established as The Skamokawa Eagle in 1891
This Saturday’s 3rd Birthday Party of River Mile 38 Brewery in Cathlamet will feature music by Razzvio, a duo composed of electric violinist Razz and drummer/producer Kevin Proctor of Monterey, Calif. (The print version of this story incorrectly stated the event would be on Friday; the event is Saturday.)
Razz is a master of the Viper violin, a crimson 6-stringed, Flying V guitar shaped instrument with frets like a guitar and the capacity to blend a quartet’s worth of melody and harmony into one package. She is also a vocalist and a looping artist, stacking melodies in real time using a wide variety of pedals and effects usually only seen with electric guitar.
Kevin Proctor is the second half of the duo, performing on electric drums and keyboards. Together, Razz and Kevin reinvent familiar pop and rock arrangements from an entirely different angle.
Razzvio was created on a street corner in Seattle, beginning with Razz and a small loop pedal and amplifier. The project has grown in three years from street corners and community markets to colleges, fairs/festivals, breweries, and wineries across the US.
