The Wahkiakum Mules track team’s season began last Thursday with the Central 2B Meet in Kalama. Eight teams were invited, and the Mules took third place in the girls’ competition, finishing with 93 points, while the boys’ finished in seventh place with 24 points.

For the girls, sophomore Macie Elliott took first place in the 400 meters with a time of 1:06.83.

Sophomore Charlie Ashe finished the 300 meter hurdles with a time of 55.39 for first place. She also took first place in the high jump, clearing 4-06.

Sophomore Ellie Leitz took third place in the 800 meters with a time of 2:42.91. She also took second place in the triple jump with a distance of 29-01.

Junior Grayci Thomas finished in sixth place in the 800 meters with a time of 3:03.06.

Sophomore Mckensi Fluckiger took firsts in both the long jump and the triple jump with distances of 14-06 and 30-09.5, respectively.

The 4x100 relay team of Ashe, Thomas, Fluckiger, and Elliott finished in second place with a time of 55.74. The 4x200 relay team of Ashe, Thomas, Leitz, and Elliott took second place with a time of 2:00.36. The 4x400 relay team of Thomas, Fluckiger, Leitz, and Elliott took first place with a time of 5:14.03.

For the boys, freshman K.C. Beery took sixth place in the 800 meters with a time of 2:30.53. He also finished in third place in the triple jump with a distance of 30-08.

Junior Steven Yu finished the 110 meter hurdles in 24.20 for second place.

The 4 x 400 relay team of Beery, Yu, Seth Kuljis, and Earth Sakworawich finished in fifth place with a time of 4:50.04.

The next meet is today (Thursday) in Napavine.
