Schools are ready for Doernbecher Week

Wahkiakum High School students will undertake a variety of activities next week to raise money for Doernbecher Children's Hospital in Portland.

Sunday is Family Fun Day, with food, games and prizes starting at 2 p.m. in the Multi-purpose Room at Wendt Elementary School. Admission is $5.

Students will have a variety of daily activities March 13-17, including a candy jar guessing contest, vote for a high school teacher to go to jail, and selling root beer floats.

Students will host a dodgeball competition on Wednesday, 6 p.m. There will be brackets for students fifth grade and below and sixth grade and above. People may sponsor a team for $10.

On Friday, students will serve root beer floats, show a movie in the gym at 7 p.m., and end the day with the Hallway Dance 9-11 p.m. in the high school.

Saturday is the big finale with a talent show, spaghetti dinner and silent auction.

Persons of all ages are invited to enter the talent show, either as individuals or in groups. Spectators pay $5 to watch or $10 to have dinner during the show.
