Invitation to Mardi Gras celebration

To The Eagle:

Mardi Gras is February 28th!

Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church is excited to tell everyone about our 4th Praisin’ Cajun Mardi Gras. This year Mardi Gras is Tuesday, February 28th and we will be celebrating at the church from 6-8 p.m. Mardi Gras (French for Fat Tuesday) is the day before Ash Wednesday. While Ash Wednesday is a somber reflection in the Christian church, ushering in an equally somber season of Lent, Mardi Gras is the last party beforehand.

Over the last few years we at Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church have used this opportunity to bring a little bit of southern flair to Cathlamet. Dinner is served at 6 p.m., and there are many selections such as chicken and shrimp gumbo, seafood etouffee (with gator!), collard greens and so much more. For those who tend towards the mild rather than wild side (such as myself), there is green salad, french bread, and flavorful bourbon chicken. The dessert table includes brownie bites, pecan tarts, and three King cakes!

There will be games and activities for kids of all ages and raffles for different Mardi Gras masks. Plus, if you find a baby in your King cake you get a prize. Want to know why a baby is in the cake? Come Tuesday February 28th at 6 p.m., and find out!

This dinner is donation-based and proceeds go towards helping youth aged 3rd-7th grade in our community go to Bible camp in July.

We invite you to Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church as we enjoy good food, good friends, and good times. Laissez les bons temps rouler- Let the good times roll!
