Joyce R. Cothren, 82, of Cathlamet, died on January 29 at home. She was born to Frank and Roberta (Jones) Lilly in Newport, Washington on December 13, 1934. She graduated from Winlock High School in 1953 and married GL Cothren on June 12 the same year.
Joyce loved reading, camping, clam digging, playing cards and sending cards to everyone for birthdays, anniversaries and sympathy. She was a caring, loving person. She was a supporter of the Columbia Theater in Longview and enjoyed performances there. She and GL were avid Mules fans and she was a member of the Skamokawa United Methodist Church for over 50 years.
Joyce was preceded in death by GL in 2008, a sister, Susan and a great grandson Aydan Cothren in 2006. She is survived by a daughter Meredith Cothren, a son and daughter-in-law Robert and Ellen Cothren, grandchildren, Rob and Jamie Cothren, Aric and Trisha Cothren, Greg and Robyn Kilponen, Nathan Cothren, Garrett Cothren, Ciara Cothren, Sara Cothren and Martin Bicondoa, great grandchildren Destiny, Chance, Elijah, Brienna, Keely, Liam and Maddie Cothren, Daniel Bicondoa, Ryan, Audrey and Josh Kilponen and Brionna Lopez.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday February 11 at 1 p.m., at Skamokawa Methodist Church followed by a potluck luncheon.
